Bob Bramblet Wins DiabloPaddlesports AdiosKayak

.

Congratulations Bob Bramblet on a Fantastic 2011 Series

Bob Bramblet followed the series for much of the year in pursuit of the Diablo Paddlesports Kayak and the enjoyment of the competition. Well he got a lot of competion from all directions from some of the best Gulf Coast anglers around. Bob was the angler to catch for 5 tournaments in a row and was always in the top five this year.
It was unprecedented to get on top of the series lead and stay there for so long. It wasn't easy and it looked like he may tumble a few times but Bob kept on catching fish when others did not. There were a couple of ClassicS that Bob didn't catch much leaving the door open for several anglers to catch him. It didn't work out that way.
Marty Meakin, Mark Knowles, William Smith and a few others had a shot to overtakeBobat the end and it looked like it may happen. Bramblet checked in at the weigh in early... very early. That could only be great news or very bad news. It seems that Bob was all over fish and had a slam of reds by 9 AM but his camera had broken. He managed to capture one entry photo but would it be enough to keep the lead?
As it worked out, it was.
Marty Meakin was the closest to Bob but had an unusual day of bad luck. Marty had missed a few tournaments so he needed a stellar day that never came together for the top ranked angler. Mark Knowles was suddenly called out of the contry on a work related emergency and could not make the Classic at the last minute. That left William Lusk in the catbird seat only to be passed by his team partner, Otis Coblentz who had a fantastic day and won the Southern Redfish Classic in doing so. This brings us to Richard Smith who started the day with the tournaments largest fish. A great start but his luck changed after that.
Many anglers were catching reds or should I say hooking up with reds even during the early morning rains, only to lose them beside the boat. There were more fish hooked that wiggled off of the hook then there were fish turned in and there were plenty of fish turned in.
As it turned out, Bob's single redfish and his lead in the series points was enough to cement his victory in the 2011 Series Year of the Kayak Fishing ClassicS. Next up is the Invitational National Championship!
Congratulations Bob for a Great Victory
Otis Colblentz Slams His Way Into Third
Otis Coblents was in nineth place going into the series championship round and needed to have a great day to move up in the final standings. It just so happens that he did just that. Otiz not only slammed the tournament, he slammed the competition to win the Southern Redfish Classic which propelled him to Third Place in the series standings overtaking his partner William Lusk.
Otis had a D.O.A. day capturing all three of his entry reds on the companies Rainbow Trout jerk baits. Otis had the right combination of lures and rods on Saturday. Otis had won a Deep South Fishing Rod in past Classic and put it to good use. His partner William was looking to catch Bramblet but Otis had something else in mind.
Fishing jerk baits is an art and Otis is a master at it as he showed everyone at the Classic. Congratulaions Otis in your victory in the Southern Redfish Classic and your big move and finish in the Series Standings. See you at the National Championship.
Congratulations Otis in your Big Move
Richard Smith's Lands Big Fish
To Hold Fifth Palce Finish
Richard Smith entered the Southern Redfish Classic only 60 points in front of friend Kelly Phillips and in Fifth Place in the Series Standings. That's cutting it close especially with a an angler like Kelly following right behind you.
As it turned out, Richard had a pretty good day that many anglers would be pleased with. After all he caught the tournaments largest fish and and won the Aqua-Bound Big Fish Award and the Deep South Fishing Rods Big Fish Award. All with one cast!
Not bad indeed. With that cast and the ensuing battle, he secured Fifth Place in the Series Year and no small task at that as Kelly finished right behind him in sixth place.
Richard is an avid fly angler as well as spin angler. It depends on the conditions and what the fish are doing. On this day he fooled the fat red on a D.O.A. Shad Tail.
Congratulations of a great series year Richard and we will see you at the National.
Congratulations Richard on a Fantastic Seires Year

Marty Meakin

Captures Second Place in Series

Marty Meakin didn't connect in the Southern Redfish Classic which

is the last open tournament of the sereis year but he had enough points to controll second place and take it all of the way to finish line.
Although there were many fish caught in the series finale it wasn't enough to catch this top angler. Marty fished hard but it just wasn't
his day it would seem.
When asked how he did at weigh in, the look on his face said it all. We could see the disapontment through the smile, but that's just fishing. Marty Would have liked to win the Diablo Adios and will have another chance at the National Championship in one week.
Marty looks to extract some satisfaction on November 4 & 5 in Tampa this year. He likes the concept of the Diablo as do many others. It was obvious at the awards ceremony held at the Riverhouse Reef & Grill in Palmetto, Florida that several other anglers had designs on the sharply designed stand-up fishing kayak. Marty we wish you luck in the National and Congratulations of a great series.
Congtratulations Marty on a Great Series Year.

William Lusk has Great Year in the ClassicS

William Lusk started the day in third place in the Series Standings and his eye on a possible big move into first. William was less than 300 points our of second and a bit more than that from first. He needed a big day and got off to a good start.
William and his partiner Otis Coblentz launched at daylight and headed out onto the flats in pursuit of big redfish. How about fat redfish, will that work? Seemed to be the order of the day. Almost all of the fish that were around 21 or 22 inches long but as big around as a football. Evidence that the reds are getting ready for winter.
William turned in two nice fish but could not magange the third that he desperately needed if his plan were to come to light.
Not to be for the young talent but then there is the National Campionship that he could win as he has most certainly earned his way into that Classic. And December will go by quickly with the holidays and then William will be back to January to start the 2012 Series Year. We look forward to having him joine us.
Congratulations William of a Fantastic Series Year
